Ofsted report
Our school was inspected at the end of January 2010.
A copy of the report was sent home with children on 26 March 2010.
The inspection has proved very useful in helping us identify the things we need to do to further improve your children’s education.
We are delighted that the report recognises the good work the school has done in developing the Forest School programme which has raised children’s self-esteem and their range of learning experiences. It is also good to know that the care, guidance and support for children are good and that children feel safe and well cared for at school. This, with the school’s strong focus on children’s well-being helps promote our children’s personal and social development.
We are particularly pleased that the report identifies as outstanding the way children take on leadership roles within the school and the wider community.
The report also confirms that there is a considerable amount of work to do this year in developing teaching and learning throughout the school, using information gathered about the children and their progress to make lessons more accurately pitched for the needs of our children, and in the way the school is managed and checks its own effectiveness.
Since the inspection, the Governing Body and the school have already done a great deal to address the improvements required in the report.
Meeting for Parents
We wanted to tell you more about this and answer all the questions you had as a result of reading the report. So we arranged a meeting on 30 March 2010.
This is the report of that meeting
School Action Plan
The school has to produce an Action Plan that covers all the ares Ofsted said had to be improved. The Action Plan is written with additional advice from the local authority (Devon County Council). It has to be approved and checked by the Governing Body.
That approval should happen at the Governing Body meeting on Thu 20 May 2010. As soon as it is approved we will make it available here.
Any further questions
Our Clerk to the Governors has produced this record of the meeting as completely as was possible. There was a lot of discussion at the meeting and we hope this report summarises it all in a clear way.
